The wide range of schemes launched for the benefit of the people includes pension programs for people in old age, disabled people, widows, and children. There are four major types of government pension schemes being operated in Uttar Pradesh. All four schemes were launched by the government to cater to the needs of different sections of society. The Old Age Pension Scheme was launched to provide financial aid to older people who are unable to work any longer. The Widow Pension Scheme was launched to help the widows with a difficult life. The Divyang and Leprosy Pension Scheme was launched to help those with physical disabilities or leprosy.

1. UP Government Old Age Pension Scheme

The Old Age Pension Scheme operating under the UP government was launched for the senior citizens of the state.

The government under this scheme provides a monthly allowance of Rs 500/- for older citizens unable to earn a living for themselves.

The lower age limit for this scheme is 60 years, while the upper is 150 years.

The income limit for rural areas is Rs 46,080/- and for urban areas is Rs 56,460/-.

Apply Online for UP Government Old Age Pension Scheme

The people intending to apply can fill in the form provided on the official website. The documents needed for application along with the basic information are scanned photographs, an income certificate, and an Age certificate. The applicants can also track their application status by clicking on the “Check Application Status Online” on the official website sspy-up.gov.in. People already receiving benefits from other pension schemes will not be eligible.

2. UP Government Widow Pension Scheme

The Widow Pension Scheme is another yojana operating under the UP government pension scheme launched intending to provide financial support to widows and make their lives easier.

The widows eligible under this scheme receive financial aid amounting to Rs 500/- every month in their bank accounts. To be eligible for this scheme the widow must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.

The lower age limit is 18 years, while the upper is 60 years. The annual income of her family must not be more than Rs 2,00,000/-.

How to apply for UP Government Widow Pension Scheme

An applicant must submit the application form online by visiting the official website. The “Widow Pension” option on the home page will lead to the new entry form which has to be filled out and submitted along with the required documents. The registration number received after the application can be used to track the application status. The documents needed to be attached to the application are scanned photographs, an Income certificate, an Age certificate, the Husband’s Death certificate, an Aadhar Card, Bank details, and a mobile number. Widows who remarried, have adult children, or are receiving benefits of any other pension scheme are ineligible.

3. UP Government Divyang and Leprosy Pension Scheme

The Divyang and Leprosy pension scheme operating under the UP government pension schemes was launched to provide financial help to those with disabilities and those affected by leprosy.

Handicapped people receive an amount of Rs 500/- and those having leprosy are provided Rs 2,500/- every month.

The applicant for this scheme must be a native UP resident and must be above the age of 18. The applicant must have a minimum of 40% disability and people with leprosy must have a minimum of 1% disability.

The net income of the applicant must be less than Rs 46,080/- per annum for rural residents and Rs 56,460 per annum for urban residents. 

Steps to apply for UP Government Divyang and Leprosy Pension Scheme

To apply for this scheme the applicant may visit the official website and fill out the application form provided along with the details required and the documents needed. The documents required to be attached by the applicant along with the form are a scanned photograph, an income certificate, an Age certificate, and the certificate of disability from the chief medical officer of their district. People receiving benefits from other schemes will not be eligible.

4. UP Government Other Pension Schemes

Apart from the pension schemes, the government of Uttar Pradesh also offers many other schemes that provide aid to people in need. One such scheme is the Rani Laxmi Bai Samman Kosh which provides financial aid to women and minor children especially girls who have been victims of violence. Another scheme is the Handicap Welfare Department facilitates disabled people with equipment like wheelchairs, and walking sticks, and offers grants for medical surgeries. The UP Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojna provides financial aid to children who have lost their parents or guardians. The Swadher Greh Yojna provides food and clothing to women who were victims of domestic violence or former prisoners.
