South African Social Security Agency provides benefits for the low-income category and underprivileged people special grants named Social Relief of Distress grant. The post bank has started replacing gold cards with black cards to issue grants to eligible citizens. The post bank started issuing black cards in different pick-n-pay and boxer stores. The eligible users who want to replace their gold card with a black card have to present a valid ID card. The proxy collectors also have to bring ID cards and a proxy letter from SASSA.
