The National Testing Agency commonly known as NTA will soon be holding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for the year 2025. Candidates who wish to pursue careers in Medicine, Dental, AYUSH, or nursing from reputed institutions, government or private, must appear for NEET 2025. This exam is conducted offline mode and the knowledge of candidates in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Biology is tested. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test conducted by NTA is an exam that determines the future of lakhs of students that intend to develop a career in medicine or nursing, The exam is conducted as an eligibility test for students who wish to have a seat in the leading medical colleges of India. The test is conducted in offline mode using pen and paper and more than 13 languages are available as a medium of questioning including English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Assamese, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Kannada, Tamil, Urdu, Telugu, and Punjabi.

For the year 2024, the exams were conducted on the 5th of May 2024 and around 25 lakhs of students appeared for it. There were around 5,000 centres for the examination across the country. NMC and DCI have already declared the number of seats that will be available for the year 2025. The number of seats available for MBBS will be 99,763, for BDS a total of 26,949 seats, a total of 52,720 seats for AYUSH courses, around 603 for BVSc and AH, a total of 1899 for AIIMS, and 249 for JIPMER. 

NEET 2025: Tentative Exam Dates

The National Testing Agency has not yet declared any official dates for the exams but is expected to release the schedule for the exams soon on the official website. Registration for the exams will probably start in February 2025 and might conclude by April. The exam city intimation slip may be released in April as well.  The admit cards for the exam will probably be out by May and the exams might be conducted in the same month. The answer key may be released one month after the exams followed by the results, and the counselling might begin by July. All these dates are tentative and the official dates will be notified on the official website. The candidates are advised to look out for any new notifications from NTA regarding the exams.

NEET 2025: How to Register

The students who intend to appear for the examination must register themselves for it on the official website of the National Testing Agency the NTA has not started the registration for the year 2025 yet but is expected to notify the opening date of the registration by February 2025. The students must fill out the registration form in the ways specified by NTA. After the registration is complete the applicant will receive an email confirmation of the registration containing important details such as the dates and centre of examination. To register for the examination the students may follow the following steps.

  • Step 1: The first step to register for NEET 2025 will be opening the official website of NTA. 
  • Step 2: Now select the link that is available for new registrations.
  • Step 3: The candidates must read the instructions provided by the NTA and then proceed with registration.
  • Step 4: Candidates then have to fill out the form by providing all the required credentials and then click submit to submit your form.
  • Step 5: Applicants now have to note down the registration number provided and then click on the link that is available for logging in.
  • Step 6: Applicants have to log in using the registration number you noted and the password created.
  • Step 7: After logging in the candidates have to fill out the application forms with the required credentials and then attach the scanned documents as specified by NTA.
  • Step 8: The candidates then have to pay the application fees online and then submit their application form. 

Application Fee for NEET 2025 Application Form

The examination fee for NEET is different for various categories of students. In the year 2024, the fee for application for General category students was Rs 1700/-, and for the students who belong to EWS?OBs section of the General category were charged Rs 1600/-. The students who were from SC/ST/PH/Third Gender were charged a fee of Rs 1000/-, and those living outside the country were charged Rs 9500/-. The fee that will be charged to the students in 2025 may vary from that charged in 2024. Any changes regarding the fee structure will be notified along with the official notification by NTA.

NEET 2025: Eligibility Requirements

The students who intend to apply for the examination must ensure they pass the eligibility criteria set up by NTA before submitting their application forms in order to avoid any future disappointments, Following are the eligibility requirements that a candidate must possess to apply for NEET 2025

Nationality 

Candidates who wish to appear for the examination may be either Indians, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, or Foreign Nationals. All are eligible to appear for the examination. The candidates who intend to complete their medical studies abroad but want to practice in India must appear for NEET as well.

Age Limit

The lower age limit to appear for this examination is 17 years and there is no upper limit specified by NTA. If your seventeenth birthday falls on or before the 31st of December 2024, you can appear for NEET 2025. 

Educational Qualifications

The candidates who have already appeared or are appearing for the 10+2 examination from a reputed and recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with English as their core subjects are eligible to appear for the examinations. General candidates must have at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology to be eligible while the students of the reserved category must have at least 40% marks in the same subjects. The candidates with disabilities must have at least 45% marks in their 12th. 

NEET 2025 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for NEET has been revised by NTA for the year 2025. As per the latest notification from NTA, every subject in the exam will be divided into two sections. Section A will have 35 questions while section B will have 15 questions making a total of 200 multiple choice questions. The candidates now have a choice of attempting any ten questions from the fifteen asked in section B. Twenty extra minutes have also been added for the students now making the exam duration 200 minutes. Hence, the candidates can now spend at least a minute in attempting each question asked in the exam.

NEET 2025 Revised Syllabus

The revised syllabus for the year 2025 has already been declared by NTA on its official website. The candidates are advised to check the official notification on the site for the topics that will be included in the syllabus. There have been major changes in topics from both class 11th and class 12th that will be asked in the exams. The students appearing for the exams must prepare accordingly.
