MP Board – New Examination Pattern
In a bid to standardize education, the State Education Centre of Madhya Pradesh has introduced a new pattern of examination for classes 5 and 8 students. The new exam pattern is divided into three portions; this includes the written examination to be taken for 60 marks, project work taken for 20 marks, and half-yearly exams taken for another 20 marks. This new structure is meant to test the students more comprehensively, evaluating their understanding and application of knowledge rather than mere rote memorization.
Project Work Requirements
As part of the revised examination scheme, two project works are assigned to the students, which are to be submitted on or before January 31, 2025. The list prescribed to be submitted by the students is issued by the respective teachers and graded as part of the final appraisal. The topics that are involved include music, extra languages-Punjabi, Gujarati, Oriya, and Sanskrit-will also demand a project presentation by the students, which fosters creativity along with practical application of knowledge.
Competency-Based Assessments Focus
One of the major trends in exams this year is competency-based questions. With the inclusion of MCQs, RSK tests the cognitive skills of the students so that they learn to critically think and become analytical minds. The paper will have a mix of question types: 50% to test the understanding; 30%, application-based; and 10% for knowledge recall. This way, the students can engage deeply with the content.
MP Board Exam Marking Scheme
The marking scheme for the exams has also been clearly defined. Along with the written exam carrying 60 marks, each project work will carry 20 marks. Students must get a minimum of 33% marks in both external, which is the written, and internal, which is project work, and assessments to clear the paper. If any student fails to meet the same, then he will receive supplementary teaching and will get a chance to reappear for the exam within two months.
