The Central Board of Secondary Education will soon announce the dates of application for the 21st edition of the Central Teachers Eligibility Test commonly abbreviated as CTET for 2025. Candidates preparing to be recruited as primary or elementary teachers in government schools operated by the center may appear for the examination to become eligible. CTET 2025 Exam
CTET exams are conducted by the CBSE to determine the eligibility of the candidates for recruitment in the government schools operating under the center as teachers for classes 1 to 8. The exam fee for this exam is Rs 1000/- for the general and OBC categories and Rs 500/- for the SC, ST, and PwD categories. The exam will take place in offline mode using pen and paper and will consist of two papers.
CTET Eligibility Criteria 2025
The eligibility criteria for the exam vary according to the paper the candidate intends to appear for. Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the examination have different eligibility requirements listed below.
Eligibility Criteria of Paper 1 (Classes 1 to 5) for CTET 2025
Candidates who are going to appear for Paper 1 of CTET must ensure pass the following eligibility criteria before applying for the examination in order to avoid any future disappointments.
- The candidates must be Indian and be at least 17 years old.
- Candidates must complete Senior Secondary education with at least 50% marks and either attain or be in the final year of a Diploma in Elementary Education.The duration of the diploma must be 2 years. OR
- The candidate must have completed Senior Secondary education with a minimum of 45% marks and must have attained or be in the final year of a Diploma in Elementary Education. The diploma must be of 2 years. OR
- The candidate must have completed Senior Secondary education with at least 50% marks and must have attained or be in the final year of a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. The degree must be for the duration of 4 years. OR
- The candidate must have completed Senior Secondary education with a minimum of 50% marks and must have attained or be in the final year of a Diploma in Education. The diploma must be for the duration of 2 years. OR
- Bachelor’s degree in B. Ed.
Eligibility Criteria for Paper 2 (Classes 6 to 8) of CTET 2025
Candidates who are going to appear for Paper 1 of CTET must ensure pass the following eligibility criteria before applying for the examination in order to avoid any future disappointments.
- The candidates must be Indian and be at least 17 years old.
- Candidates must complete graduation and either clear or be in the final year of the Diploma in Elementary Education. The duration of the diploma must be 2 years. OR
- The candidates must have completed graduation with at least 50% marks and have attained or be studying in the final year of B. Ed. OR
- The candidates must have graduated with at least 40% marks and have attained or be studying in the final year of B. Ed, according to the regulations set by NCTE. OR
- The candidate must have completed Senior Secondary education with at least 50% marks and must have attained or be studying in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. The duration of the diploma must be 4 years. OR
- The candidate must have completed Senior Secondary education with at least 50% marks and must have attained or be studying in the final year of B.A.Ed, B.Sc.Ed, or B.SC.Ed & B.A. OR
- Candidates must graduate with at least 50% marks and complete or enroll in a one-year BEd program.
